Hazardous materials shipping training Oct. 14
Anyone shipping or receiving hazardous materials is required to have Department of Transportation training every three years. Hazardous materials include chemicals, dry ice, radioactive materials and biological agents.
K-State environmental health and safety is offering a U.S. Department of Transportation course from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Edwards Hall basement training room, B011. To sign up call Kelly Greene, environmental manager, at 785-532-5856. There is a $150 fee for the course.
During this course you will learn about hazmat classifications, packaging, labeling, marking and shipping papers. This course meets the Department of Transportation training standards for initial and recurrent training as required in 49 CFR 172.704.
If you are shipping hazmat by airplane you're also required to have International Air Transport Association training. We do not offer this class, but can provide information on where to obtain this training.
