Sheu and Turnley receive College of Business Administration awards
Submitted by Communications and Marketing
William Turnley, professor of management, and Chwen Sheu, professor and management department head, are the recipients of this year’s Kansas State Bank Teaching Award and the College of Business Administration Outstanding Contributions in Research Award.
These awards are given annually and based on the recommendations of the college’s Recognition and Awards Committee.
In its recommendation, the committee cites Turnley’s “sterling student evaluations and demonstrated innovative teaching methods” along with how he impressed the importance of business ethics to many students among his many teaching achievements.
Turnley is the Sam and Karen Forrer chair in business ethics, College of Business Administration faculty fellow and the chair of the Ethics and Responsible Citizenship Initiative.
The committee commended Sheu for his 12 publications in peer-reviewed journals during the past two years, two best paper awards and several presentations at major international conferences. This scholarly record is outstanding for any faculty member, but even more so for someone with Sheu’s heavy administrative responsibilities as department head. Sheu is the Paul Edgerley chair in business.
“Dr. Turnley and Dr. Sheu are most deserving of these recognitions, and are great examples of the faculty that we have at the College of Business Administration,” said Ali Malkekzadeh, Edgerley Family Dean of the college. “It is this kind of hard work and engagement in research and innovative teaching that will allow us to meet the goals of K-State Vision 2025.”
The Recognition and Awards Committee is comprised of Mark Linville, associate professor of accounting, BKD faculty fellow and committee chair; George Cai, associate professor of management; Ansley Chua, assistant professor of finance; Reo Song, assistant professor of marketing; and Colby Murphy, academic adviser.
