Quiet, caffeine, food at K-State Libraries Dec. 14-19
Submitted by Sarah McGreer Hoyt
During finals week, quiet study space, free caffeine and food are precious commodities, but K-State Libraries aim to serve.
Starting Sunday, Dec. 14, the Hale Library quiet zones expand to include both third and first floors. In quiet zones, cellphones should be on vibrate, conversations and group work are discouraged and headphones should be turned down.
From 5 p.m. to midnight Monday through Wednesday, K-State Libraries also will open the Hemisphere Room on the fifth floor as a quiet zone. As with the Great Room in the northwest corner of the third floor, the Hemisphere Room has very limited number of power outlets, so laptops and other electronics are not recommended.
Once everyone has settled into the perfect study spot and is craving food and drink, the K-State Libraries deliver with Caffeine Fix. Free coffee, tea, snacks and sympathy will be served from 10 p.m. to midnight on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
This year's event is made possible by K-State Libraries and Einstein Bros Bagels with additional support from 91.9 KSDB, Bluestem Bistro, Jimmy Johns, Mr. Goodcents, Ray's Apple Market and Varsity Donuts.
