Architecture professor presents paper at international education conference
Mick Charney, associate professor of architecture, presented a paper at the 10th annual Hawaii International Conference on Education in Honolulu, Jan. 5-8. His paper was "Call Me Ishmael: Confronting Irreligiosity in the College Classroom through Collaborative Exercises." Charney discussed the nature of what he terms "irreligiosity" among today's college-age students and then modeled examples of collaborative exercises and assignments that can help acquaint students with the diversity of the world's many belief systems as well as demonstrate the need for religious literacy in the contemporary world.
