Civil engineering student wins national scholarship
Jack Cunningham, senior in civil engineering, has been awarded the 2015 American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association, or AREMA, Union Pacific William E. Wimmer Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship is awarded by the association's Educational Foundation, which promotes educational activities related to railway engineering.
"Jack put together an excellent application packet explaining his family's history, which included civil engineers for the rail industry, his military career where he was a surveyor and his future career goals," said Eric Fitzsimmons, visiting assistant professor in civil engineering. "It is great to see a K-State winner among the 'heavy hitter' universities that do railroad research."
