Free class Saturday: Small animal-handling Skills for Disaster Responders
Susan Nelson, associate professor of clinical sciences, will give a class on Small Animal-handling Skills for Disaster Responders, 3:45-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, in the lecture hall at the Manhattan Fire Station, 200 Denison Ave. – on the corner of Kimball and Denison avenues. Co-presenter is Stephanie McCall, Riley County Animal Response Team coordinator.
"We believe preparedness is the key to mitigating the devastation that occurs when disasters happen. Becoming a credentialed volunteer is an important step for those who wish to participate in disaster response," Nelson said.
This training is being offered to those interested in being a member of the Riley County Animal Response Team or those involved with the K-State Disaster Response. All K-Staters and Manhattanites – and friends – are invited to attend the presentation. People who are interested in becoming an animal-response volunteer may pick up an application form at the meeting or email riley.cart@yahoo.com.
General questions, as well as suggestions for future topics, may also be emailed to riley.cart@yahoo.com.
