Campus Master Plan open meetings next week
Dear K-State Community,
As part of K-State 2025 the university is embarking on a comprehensive update of its Campus Master Plan, which was last updated in 2004. Master planning provides a road map for growth and renewal, while helping us decide the best place to make capital investments. By moving forward with this planning effort at this time, we can develop a more comprehensive approach to our future.
In October, a request was posted for proposals from planning and consulting firms to assist with the Campus Master Plan Update process. Four firms were invited to campus to make presentations in early December, and the Baltimore planning and architecture firm of Ayers Saint Gross was recently selected to help guide our process.
In the first phase of this project, representatives from Ayers Saint Gross will be on campus next week to conduct a series of stakeholder focus group meetings and open campus meetings to gather opinions, experiences and observations about the campus from a wide variety of individuals. While this first phase is occurring on a quick time line, be assured there will be many opportunities during the process for input and discussion. We hope you can attend one of these meetings.
The open campus meetings will be noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, both in Forum Hall at the K-State Student Union.
Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited and encouraged to attend these open campus meetings. Ayers Saint Gross will be using the same set of questions for each of the stakeholder focus groups and the open campus meetings, and those questions are available at campus master plan. The schedule of the stakeholder focus group meetings is also available on this website. Because we want to ensure broad input from the entire campus, individuals who cannot attend one of the open campus meetings are welcome to attend one of the stakeholder focus group sessions.
Input from campus and community members also will be collected via a Web-based survey provided by Mind Mixer. Access to the survey will be available from the Campus Master Plan Update website and the K-State home page. Additional details about the survey will be provided in an upcoming edition of K-State Today.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Ruth Dyer
