Legislative update May 12
The Kansas Legislature is set to enter the third week of the 2015 Veto Session. Discussions are ongoing on revenues and the state budget.
Last week the House Education Committee held hearings on Senate Bill 193. This legislation would create a prospectus for students and their parents to assist with making decisions regarding the degree programs the students might pursue in the institutions. Larry Moeder, assistant vice president for student life/director of admissions and student financial assistance, testified at a hearing by the committee. The following day the Education Committee discussed the bill and amendments. Chairman Ron Highland adjourned the meeting with no action taken by the committee.
