NACADA executive director to present during July 8 Student Affairs Live program
Trends and current issues in academic advising will be the focus of the July 8 episode of Student Affairs Live, a live-streamed conversation in which Tony Doody of Rutgers University, will interview Charlie Nutt, National Academic Advising Association executive director and assistant professor in education at Kansas State University.
Student Affairs Live is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 8. You can participate in the conversation by emailing questions before the show to tony@higheredlive.com or by tweeting live during the show using the #higheredlive hashtag.
"We'll do our best to infuse questions from viewers with attribution into the live conversation," Nutt said.
Discussion items will include the benefits and challenges of remote advising, building rapport between distance students and advisors, the issue of students as customers, new competencies and skills academic advisors will need in the upcoming decades, and how the best institutions are using predictive modeling and big data.
Nutt was appointed executive director of National Academic Advising Association executive director, based at Kansas State University, in October 2007, and teaches graduate courses in the College of Education's counseling and educational psychology department, where he was instrumental in the development of the K-State graduate certificate in academic advising and several other of the association's professional development initiatives. He received his doctorate in higher education leadership from Georgia Southern University.
Doody currently serves as director of student life on the five New Brunswich/Piscataway campuses of Rutgers University, and has more than 20 years of experience in senior leadership positions within higher education in the areas of adult learning, new student orientation, parent and family programs, leadership and training.
