The Kansas State University College of Business Administration has named Esther Swilley as its interim marketing department head. Swilley will serve in the place of former department head Kevin Gwinner, who is currently serving as interim dean for the college.
"In her presentation to the college, Dr. Swilley demonstrated a positive vision to continue moving the department forward in the coming year," Gwinner said. "She is a very enthusiastic leader with many great experiences advancing programs both on and off campus. I am confident she will do a wonderful job heading the department and interacting with all of our various constituents."
Swilley, who came to K-State in 2007, holds the L. L. McAninch chair in business administration. She received her undergraduate education at Wayne State University, before obtaining an Master's of Business Administration from Kennesaw State University and a doctorate in marketing from Florida State University.
"My vision would be to interact with all levels of the university to highlight the department's talent," Swilley said. "I hope to maintain the culture of scholarly excellence that the marketing department has built."
Swilley's research interests include electronic commerce, mobile marketing and marketing technologies. She has been published in several journals, including the Industries Journal, the International Journal of Electronic Marketing and Retailing, the Journal of Value Chain Management and the International Journal of Mobile Marketing, as well as several conference proceedings.
