Submitted by Communications and Marketing
Come Saturday, one of the newest members of the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame will be a Kansas State University Salina professor.
Bob Homolka, professor of mathematics, is being inducted into the hall at a noon ceremony in Wichita. Homolka is being recognized for umpiring nearly 5,000 games at all levels. He has umpired nearly 40 years at the collegiate level, mostly in the Big 12, Big 10 and Missouri Valley conferences. He also has been selected to umpire in two College World Series, and he worked Major League Baseball games during the 1995 umpires strike.
The Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame is part of the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame. Homolka is among five inductees to this year's class. Also to be honored at the ceremony will be 14 Negro Leagues greats.
