Christina Aguilera appointed as director of environmental health and safety
The Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance has appointed Christina Aguilera as the new director of environmental health and safety at Kansas State University following a national search.
Aguilera will be responsible for directing universitywide programs in areas such as hazardous materials, fire safety, occupational safety and risk management to ensure consistent and effective safety programs at the university. She also will be responsible for ensuring the university is in compliance with federal and state environmental, health and safety regulations and managing the environmental health and safety department.
"I am extremely excited to be joining the K-State community," Aguilera said. "I look forward to being part of efforts that ensure a safe campus, with uninterrupted learning and research that move us toward the 2025 goal of becoming a Top 50 research university."
Aguilera currently serves as the manager of environmental compliance and industrial hygiene at the University of Colorado Denver's Anschutz Medical Campus where she manages environmental compliance and industrial hygiene and occupational safety programs. Previously, Aguilera served as director of environmental health and safety at the Jefferson County School District and the University of Northern Colorado.
Aguilera received her Master of Public Health from the University of Northern Colorado and her bachelor's degree in environmental studies from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Her doctoral research focuses on the safety behavior and compliance to safety controls within the veterinary and animal care fields.

Aguilera will begin her appointment at K-State Sept. 28.
