Biochemistry emeritus professor publishes book about the science behind obesity
Submitted by Communications and Marketing
Doloroes "Dee" Takemoto, Kansas State University professor emeritus of biochemistry, recently published her obesity-related research in a new book.
The book, "Gaining Weight?: High fructose corn syrup and obesity," was released in late January by Balboa Press. It was co-authored by Takemoto's sister, Joanne McIntyre.
"Gaining Weight?" looks at why society is gaining weight and how to stop it. It includes the findings from studies with rats, which shows that the body really does understand the difference between sugar and high fructose corn syrup. Additionally, it scientifically links artificial sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup and toxins leached from plastics to messing up the metabolism.
"Gaining Weight?" is available in both printed and digital versions. It can be purchased from balboapress.com, as well as from retailers such as Amazon.com and Hastings.
Here is the introduction from book:
So, you have been trying to lose weight! Well, join the 70 percent of Americans who are overweight, already exercise and really do not eat that much. What’s the problem? The problem is the toxic foods you are eating, not the calories. Things like artificial sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup and leached toxins from plastic are messing with your metabolism and appetite centers. You gain weight no matter what you do. This book will show you why we are poisoning ourselves and how to stop. And, in the process, we will show you how to lose weight easily, getting rid of those unwanted tummy fat.
