Intersections of art, science and technology at the Beach Museum

The next Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous, or LASER, a national program of evening gatherings that bring artists and scientists together for informal presentations and conversation with an audience, will be from 6-9 p.m. on Oct. 8. For the first time, the LASER series will be in the UMB Theater at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum and will feature the following distinguished speakers:
- Charles Rice, university distinguished professor in the agronomy department, will present "Dig It: Secrets of the Soil."
- Dukno Yoon, assistant professor in the art department, will present "Integration of 3D Modeling and Printing Into Metalworking Practice."
- James Hamilton, professor in the philosophy department, will present "Attention and Sounds in the Spectating of Dance and Theater."
The events are a national program of evening gatherings that bring artists and scientists together for informal presentations and conversation with an audience. The event is free and open to the public. The agenda includes some presentations of art/science projects, news from the audience and time for casual socializing/networking.
The K-State Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous series is co-sponsored by the DX Media Program, Kansas State University College of Arts & Sciences and Leonardo International Society for the Arts, Science and Technology. The rendezvous foster community and discussion around the intersection of art and science, serving as a platform for the dynamic cross-disciplinary conversations necessary to generate innovative ideas and perspectives.
