Kansas Board of Regents Oct. 14 meeting university updates

The monthly Kansas Board of Regents meeting on Oct. 14 included several items related to Kansas State University.
President's announcements
President Kirk Schulz addressed new leadership at Kansas State University:
- Fred Guzek, Faculty Senate president
- Andy Hurtig, student body president
- Pam Warren, University Support Staff Senate president

Lease-purchase agreements and land exchange
The Regents approved two lease-purchase agreements with the KSU Foundation and one land exchange. Read more about the agreements.
New Doctor of Philosophy in personal financial planning
The Regents approved a request for a doctorate in personal financial planning, which until it was approved was a sub-plan of a doctorate in the College of Human Ecology. Read more about the new degree including the university’s proposal.
Kansas State University Polytechnic Campus
The Regents approved changing the name of Kansas State University Salina to Kansas State University Polytechnic Campus. The new name reflects the Salina campus’ 50-year mission as a polytechnic campus. Learn more about the name change.
December 2015 Commencement honorary degree
The Regents approved Kansas State University to award an honorary doctorate degree during the December 2015 Graduate School commencement ceremony.
