APDesign students working with Sunset Zoo Spooktacular
Students from the College of Architecture, Planning & Design's interior architecture & product design department will join forces with Sunset Zoo during its annual Pumpkin Carving Contest on Monday, Oct. 19.
Students will assist children who are enrolled in the zoo's child care center, a nature-based program for children 2 1/2 to 5 years of age. Participants will design and carve pumpkins inspired by animals at the Sunset Zoo. The pumpkin creations will then be showcased at the annual Spooktacular event from noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24-25. Guests during the event may vote for their favorite pumpkin and the winner will be announced on Oct. 26.
Ella Casey, assistant director for Sunset Zoo, said that it is the fifth year of the partnership with the department that was conceived by Katrina Lewis, associate professor, and is now being led by Dustin Headley, assistant professor.
