Ellyn R. Mulcahy appointed as Master of Public Health program director
Ellyn R. Mulcahy has been named director of the Master of Public Health program, effective May 31, 2016. Mulcahy will succeed Michael Cates who will retire in January 2016. An internal search for an interim director until Mulcahy can start will be initiated in the near future.
Mulcahy received her doctorate from Creighton University in microbiology and immunology and a Master of Public Health from the University of Kansas Medical Center. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Creighton University and the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Mulcahy has been conducing research with Sudanese refugee women in collaboration with a colleague at University of Kansas Medical Center. Mulcahy is currently professor and chair of biotechnology at Johnson County Community College. She participated in the Pathways to Public Health projects coordinated by K-State researchers that was funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The Master of Public Health board of directors and the Master of Public Health faculty and students extend sincere appreciation to Michael Cates for his leadership in obtaining program accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health and his numerous contributions to the program.
