Save the date: Summer Advising Institute scheduled for May 19-20
Mark you calendars for the fourth annual K-State/NACADA Summer Undergraduate Academic Advising Institute on Thursday, May 19, and Friday, May 20, in the Leadership Studies Building.
Brett McFarlane, director of university advising at the University of California, Davis, will serve as the keynote speaker. The institute also will feature sessions on such topics as a universitywide advising syllabus, summer school, first-year experience programs realignment and implementation of SSC-Campus integration with KSIS Advisor Center.
As always, all K-State faculty, staff and administrators with an interest in advising are encouraged to attend. Two breakfasts and a lunch on Thursday, May 19, are included gratis. Participants also will have the opportunity to present research or informational posters and tables, and to receive specialized training.
A registration link will be included in a follow-up announcement closer to the date of the institute. In the meantime, pose questions or send breakout session or poster presentation ideas to Steve Dandaneau, vice provost for undergraduate studies, at dandaneau@k-state.edu.
The Summer Advising Institute is sponsored by the University Advising Committee and the National Academic Advising Association. Funds are directed for use by the University Advising Committee by the provost and senior vice president and the vice president for student life and dean of students.
