Free energy savings workshop can help K-State win the Take Charge Challenge
The Take Charge Challenge is almost over, but there’s still time to help K-State and Manhattan beat the Jayhawks.
The Take Charge Challenge is an energy efficiency competition sponsored by the Climate and Energy Project. In the university region, the competition pits K-State/Manhattan against KU/Lawrence. A $100,000 community prize and bragging rights are on the line.
To help earn points in the competition register for Westar’s FREE Home Energy Savings Workshop, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Town Hall of K-State’s Leadership Studies building.
This three-hour workshop is taught by members of Westar's Energy efficiency team and will cover air leaks, heating and cooling equipment, water heaters, lighting, appliances and air sealing for insulation, windows and doors. Weatherization kits will also be available for purchase. Register for this FREE workshop at https://ufmprograms.org/CourseStatus.awp?&course=11CEN80.
The multiplier effect for this workshop is huge and will go a long way to earn K-State and Manhattan points in the Take Charge Challenge.
You can also switch all your light bulbs to compact fluorescents or LEDs and report all switches since Jan. 1 at www.takechargekansas.org.
