Geography honors students with departmental awards
The geography department presented its departmental awards and scholarships at its annual honors and awards banquet April 22. The following students received awards:
Caelan Blair, junior, received the William Grimm Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship.
Nick Meng, senior, received the H.L. "Sy" Seyler Undergraduate GIScience Scholarship.
John Paul Rogers, junior, and Linsey Swanson, senior, received the Leonard LeBlanc Outstanding Undergraduate Major Award.
Takuto Urano, senior, received the Milton and Emma Jean Rafferty Gamma Theta Upsilon Geography Scholarship.
Katia Chavira, sophomore, received the Robert H. Williams Undergraduate Geography Scholarship.
Jakob Whitson, senior, received the Huber Self Scholarship in Geography.
Megan McHaney, senior, received the National Council for Geographic Education/American Association of Geographers Excellence in Scholarship Award.
Christy Jean, doctoral student, received the Stephen and Susan White Geography GTA Award.
Julie Commerford, doctoral student, received the Geography Graduate Student Leadership Award.
Thomas Larsen, master's student, received the Mary Dobbs Outstanding Citizen Award.
Emily Mellicant, master's student, received the Rumsey Bissell Marston Scholarship for Graduate Fieldwork in Environmental Geography.
Colin Bailey, junior; Katia Chavira, sophomore; Nick Meng, senior; Takuto Urano, senior; Allison Walker, senior; and Jakob Whitson, senior, received Steven Kale Undergraduate Research Fellowships.
Emily Mellicant, master's student, and Bohua Ling, doctoral student, received Steven Kale Graduate Research Fellowships.
