Jani presents at Environmental Design Research Association conference
Vibhavari Jani, associate professor of interior architecture & product design, recently presented a paper titled "Designers as Change Agents: A Farm Training and Healing Center Prototype Development Project for the Wounded Warriors" at the Environmental Design Research Association conference in Raleigh, North Carolina. This international multidisciplinary conference is hosted by the association annually to promote research across design disciplines.
Jani also hosted a symposium on sustainability titled "Inclusion of Sustainable Design Precedents from the Non-Western World: A Call for a Shift in Design Education." This symposium included sustainable design precedents from Asia and the Middle East. Jani presented reflections on sustainability from Indian perspectives. Nisha Fernando, University of Wisconsin at Stevenson Point, presented Sri Lankan precedents and Cherif Amor, Virginia Common Wealth University in Qatar, presented reflections from Middle Eastern perspectives.
Jani serves as chair of the association's Health Network and hosted a meeting of network members at the conference. The Health Network promotes research and development of innovations in health care environments.
Jani also was recently elected as one of the association's board of directors.
