Counseling Services welcomes five new hires
Dorinda Lambert, director of Counseling Services, shares an update about Counseling Services' new staff members:
Julie Boyles joined our office in June as the receptionist at Counseling Services. She is one of the cheerful and helpful voices you will hear when you call our office. We are so glad she has joined our center.
In addition, we have completed several searches for clinical staff positions that opened due to several staff leaving at the end of July.
In August, we will welcome the following clinical staff who will join us as colleagues:
- Kendal Kershner will receive his doctorate in clinical psychology in July from Argosy University in Phoenix, Arizona, after completing his psychology internship at the Counseling and Psychological Services at Clemson University in South Carolina. One of Kershner's areas of focus at K-State will be on alcohol and substance abuse issues. Kershner graduated from K-State with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2008 and is excited about returning to Manhattan with his wife.
- Jay Middleton will receive his doctorate in counseling psychology in August from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana, and is completing his psychology internship at K-State Counseling Services at the end of July. In addition to providing clinical services, Middleton will coordinate our career-life planning course and head the seminar for our psychology interns. He and his family are happy about being able to remain here in Manhattan to be near family in Olathe.
- Melissa Miller, received her master's degree in counseling from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, and has one year of experience there as a residence hall coordinator. More recently, she has two years of experience as a licensed professional counselor at Compass Behavioral Health in Garden City. Miller looks forward to joining our clinical staff and to moving to Manhattan with her family.
- Kodee Walls will receive her doctorate in counseling psychology in July from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, after completing her psychology internship at the Student Counseling Center at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Walls will help rebuild our stress-management and biofeedback program as a major part of her clinical service role here. Walls and her partner will move to Manhattan at the end of July.
