2016 New Student Convocation scheduled for Aug. 21
The 2016 New Student Convocation will be from 5:45-6:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at Bramlage Coliseum.
This year's kick off to the 2016-2017 academic year will feature a charge from Jodi Kaus, director of Powercat Financial Counseling, and remarks from Kourtney Bettinger and Clemente Jaquez, K-State Alumni Association 2016 Distinguished Young Alumni award recipients; Jack Nolte, Mikaela Flax and Rachel Haskell, undergraduate students representing Mortar Board, Chimes and Silver Key honor societies, respectively; and Greg Eiselein, Donnelly Professor of English, university distinguished teaching scholar and director of K-State First.
The convocation begins with a prelude by the Faculty Brass Quintet and concludes with the alma mater. Interim President Gen. Richard Myers and Provost and Senior Vice President April C. Mason will preside and be joined by members of the President's Cabinet, Council of Deans and Student Governing Association leaders.
While the program welcomes new undergraduate students, all members of the Kansas State University community — faculty, staff, students, alumni, friends — are welcome to attend. Please mark your calendars. The kickoff picnic and pep rally follow immediately in Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
