K-State mosquito research buzzes its way to The Washington Post
Submitted by Division of Communications and Marketing
A video of Stephen Higgs, director of K-State's Biosecurity Research Institute, explaining the anatomy of a mosquito and how viruses like Zika spread in its body, has been featured twice in The Washington Post on July 5 and July 29.
Higgs uses a large anatomical model of a mosquito to explain how a mosquito feeds and how viruses are transmitted to hosts. Higgs even explains how the mosquito can spit 100 different proteins into the host. Watch the video in the Post or read the news release that featured the research.
