Frederick Burrack presents in Washington, D.C., on national pilot project
Submitted by Frederick Burrack
Frederick Burrack, director of the Office of Assessment, will present the methodology implemented in the national pilot for Model Cornerstone Assessments of the new National Standards for Music Education to the State Education Agency Directors of Arts Education, National Coalition for Core Arts Standards and National Association for Music Education Aug. 6 in Washington, D.C.
Since 2012, Burrack has co-chaired a team of researchers that have developed and piloted assessments in schools across the nation.
Burrack and his team will review the current data to identify student work that will serve as illustrative examples for teachers when the assessments are released in 2017. Further piloting in the fall will complete the task, at which time analysis will determine usefulness in schools, validity, consistency of scoring, demographic implications, and the relationship between learning dimensions.
