University Advising Committee accepting applications for professional development grants for advising
The University Advising Committee announces its annual professional development grant program. All university faculty and staff are eligible to apply for individual awards of up to $750 to support participation in professional and scholarly meetings related to academic advising.
The award committee — comprised of Stephanie Banister, Leena Chakrabarti, Brad Cunningham and Tanya Gonzalez — will make up to five awards for fall 2016, and five additional in the spring 2017 semester.
To apply, please send a one-to-two page application to Steve Dandaneau, University Advising Committee co-chair, at dandaneau@k-state.edu by 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1. The committee will evaluate applications in a timely manner in order to facilitate applicants' participation in early fall semester meetings.
The application should include a description of the advising-related meeting, the applicant's expected role at the meeting, and, importantly, the benefits that the applicant expects to derive from participation. The applicant's supervisor should be copied in the email as indication of the supervisor's endorsement. Past recipients are eligible to apply, but new applicants are encouraged and will be given first consideration.
