Kansas Board of Regents Nov. 16 meeting updates
Submitted by Division of Communications and Marketing
The monthly Kansas Board of Regents meeting on Nov. 16 at Emporia State University included several items related to Kansas State University.
Housing and food service rates
All state universities submitted fiscal year 2018 housing and food service rates for first reading. Final action will be taken by the Regents in December and approved rates will go into effect on July 1, 2017. K-State's room and board rates are below the national average and rank in the lower one-third of the Big 12 Conference. View the proposed rates.
Land sale
The Regents gave Kansas State University approval to sell three properties: 7.5 acres of Marlatt Park, nearly an acre of undevelopable land near the Kansas Department of Agriculture and the land previously occupied by the Purebred Beef Unit.
Appointment of JCERTA representative
The Regents appointed Michael Copeland to the Johnson County Education Research Triangle Authority, or JCERTA, to serve as the board's representative. The JCERTA supports the research and education programs in animal health and food safety and security at K-State Olathe, as well as programs of the University of Kansas and the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Update on concealed carry policies
The Regents received information on concealed carry from Pittsburg State, the University of Kansas and Wichita State University. The Regents will continue the discussion at the December meeting.
