Burrack presents at multiple national conferences

Frederick Burrack, director of assessment, recently presented at three national conferences on multiple assessment topics.
At the national in-service for the National Association for Music Education, Burrack led two invited preconference sessions: "Confirming the Assessments," describing the national pilot that is working to confirm validity, reliability and userfulness of Model Cornerstone Assessments, and "Experiencing the Measures" in which music teachers and district music supervisors use the piloted national assessments firsthand.
Burrack and Phillip Payne, assistant professor of music education, presented two sessions at the State Education Agency Directors of Arts Education Arts Assessment Symposium, "Assessing State Music Teaching Standards through Electronic Portfolios" and "A Pilot of Model Cornerstone Assessments for National Music Standards."
Also at the Arts Assessment Symposium, Burrack presented as part of a panel "Customizing the Model Cornerstone Assessment for Your Classroom — Part III of Model Cornerstone Assessment in Policy and Practice" with representatives from each of the National Standards for Arts Education.
Burrack and Chris Urban, assistant director of assessment, presented "Excellence in Assessment Designations: Lessons from the Field" at the annual meeting for the Association for Public and Land-Grant Universities, sharing K-State's assessment processes on a panel with two other university recipients of the Sustained Excellence in Assessment Designation, the University of Wisconsin, and Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis.
