Support from K-Staters helps local families, individuals 'Thrive!'
Submitted by Communications and Marketing
Thrive!, formerly Circles of Manhattan, works to reduce poverty in the Manhattan community through relationship-focused programming that supports the entire family. Healthy relationships provide support in times of trouble, celebration in times of joy and accountability to goals.
Getting out of poverty and breaking the cycle of generational poverty is hard work and takes teamwork from across all economic classes. Thrive! provides a safe place weekly for teams to meet, families to have dinner, and youth to engage in their own unique skill building activities.
Funding from sources like United Way allows Thrive! to cover meal and programming expenses for an average 40-50 people every week.
Help support organizations like Thrive! by donating to the United Way campaign. Employees are encouraged to continue to donate through HRIS/Employee Self Service so efforts are counted toward the K-State United Way campaign. Please have your pledges made by Dec. 8. You can designate a gift to the United Way in your community, to make sure the funds stay local.
Learn more about the campaign and how your donation makes a difference at k-state.edu/unitedway. For more information about Konza United Way, visit konzaunitedway.org.
K-State employees who contribute to the campaign will be entered into a drawing for a parking pass or one day off with pay. Winners will be announced at a later date.
