HandsOn Kansas State asking for volunteers for City Snow Partners program
Submitted by HandsOn Kansas State
HandsOn Kansas State connects K-State students to the Manhattan community through service and engagement opportunities. As part of its Manhattan Good Neighbors Program, K-State students have historically assisted community members with snow removal through Manhattan's City Snow Partners program.
As a continuation of this partnership, the city of Manhattan has assumed administrative responsibility for this program in an effort to expand its communitywide reach.
Now in its third year, the program seeks to connect volunteers with elderly and disabled residents who need help with snow removal each winter. If at all possible, volunteers are matched with residents in need based on location to reduce travel in inclement weather. Volunteers will be asked to clear snow from public sidewalks and one path from the front door to a sidewalk at their assigned properties. Snow removal from other surfaces, such as porches and driveways, is at the volunteer's discretion.
For more information or to get involved, contact HandsOn Kansas State at handson@k-state.edu.
Both volunteers and residents in need can sign up by calling the city manager's office at 785-587-2408 or by filling out an online form at cityofmhk.com/snowpartners.
