Jazz vibraphonist to present clinic today
Jazz vibraphonist Jerry Tachoir will present a clinic at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in 201 McCain Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
The first-ever graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, with a degree in applied music for the vibraphone and mallet instruments, Tachoir has extensive credits in recordings for radio and television, many CDs as both leader and also sideman, and a busy calendar of touring and performing live.
Tachoir is a very popular and much in demand artist and clinician for the Musser Vibraphone and Marimba Co. division of Ludwig Drums since 1972. He was a featured clinician at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Dallas, Texas, in 1982; Nashville, Tennessee, in 1989 and 2004; and New Orleans in 1992.
Tachoir was featured via live recording for the "Jazz sur le Vif" show to be aired nationally on the Canadian Broadcast Corporation network. He has recorded two feature cable TV shows airing nationally on The Nashville Network, and has recorded several educational TV shows for public television with his jazz quartet.
