K-State Inline Hockey Club hosts successful event and season
The Kansas State University Inline Hockey Club hosted a Great Plains Regional College Inline Hockey Tournament Feb. 18-19 at the Rec Complex. Twelve teams from three different regions competed in official league play. The teams and fans were impressed by K-State's facility.
The club went 3-1 for the weekend, defeating all three divisional rivals it faced before losing to a nondivisional rival. The team finished with a 14-2 record for the regular season; good enough to be regular season champions for the Great Plains Collegiate Inline Hockey League.
The Roller Cats will travel to St. Louis for regional postseason play Saturday, Feb. 25. The team will play in the semifinals at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at Midwest Sport Hockey in Ballwin, Missouri. The championship game will be at 4 p.m.
The team looks forward to bringing the regional title back to campus for the second consecutive year as it continues preparations for the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association's Invitational Tournament in Fort Myers, Florida, the week of April 2.
