Co-advisor needed for Silver Key sophomore honorary
Silver Key sophomore honorary is looking for a student-centered co-advisor to assist the 40-member group and current advisor with biweekly meetings and monthly service projects.
Silver Key advisors attend biweekly business meetings, executive council meetings and service activities. They provide guidance to officers and committee chairs, assist with the new member selection process, oversee officer elections and transitions, help members develop self-discipline and responsibility and act as role models for the up-and-coming leaders at K-State.
Silver Key is active on campus and in the community. Past activities include fundraising for the Manhattan Emergency Shelter, assisting with student projects on campus, sponsoring the Boys and Girls Club at a K-State basketball game, cleaning our adopted section of Highway 24 and providing game nights for military families.
Silver Key students are dedicated to scholarship, leadership and service. Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or above to apply, and represent majors from all over campus.
This organization has served K-State and the community for decades, beginning in 1922 as SPARKS. During the late 1980s, the honorary became a chapter of the national SPURS organization until disaffiliating in 1995. Members of the student organization at that time voted to call the group Silver Key. Now, 27 years later, Silver Key continues to provide a leadership laboratory for up-and-coming leaders at K-State.
