ALiCE training offered July 18
Submitted by Human Capital Services-Learning and Development
The Kansas State University Police Department will offer a training for citizen response to active shooter and critical incidents called ALiCE — Alert, Lockdown, inform, Counter and Evacuate — from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, in the Big 12 Room of the K-State Student Union.
Past active shooter incidents have allowed individuals and agencies to evaluate how law enforcement and victims can promote greater survivability. Lockdown-based protocols have been, and continue to be, vastly utilized throughout the U.S. in response to these types of incidents. However, statistics indicate a lockdown-only response might not be the best option under certain circumstances. The ALiCE program explores other available victim responses, while still incorporating lockdown principles that may lead to greater survival rates.
The ALiCE training program explores statistical data and provides suggested available victim responses to individuals who may find themselves in any critical incident, including an active shooter situation. The training is scenario-based and does not require any physical activity by participants.
In addition, K-State Police will provide ALiCE training to individual departments upon request. To make arrangements for training, please contact Chad Jager at cwj7667@ksu.edu or by phone at 785-532-1132.
There is no charge to participants, but registration is necessary to ensure adequate seating and materials. Participants may register through HRIS Self_Enrollment or by sending an email to Samantha Roberts at learning-develop-hr@k-state.edu. When sending an email, please include your name, department, employee ID number, course title, and the course number, WF0476. Supervisors also may send an email to register student employees.
