Residence life coordinator published in regional magazine
Barbara Braga, residence life coordinator for Wefald Hall at K-State, wrote an article for the summer 2017 issue of the Upper Midwest Region-Association of College and University Housing Officers' Perspectives magazine.
In her article, "Grand Openings, Closings, and Renovations: The Impact of Construction on an Entry Level Professional," Braga talks about how construction at Wefald Hall affected her as an entry-level professional. One of the important lessons Braga learned was how to field questions and find a balance for all who experienced the construction: students, directors, deans and parents. Another crucial takeaway for Braga was remembering to keep students' best interests in mind when making executive decisions.
"I had to use my voice to advocate and remind of the needs of our students and minimize inconveniences for them," Braga said.
She attributes the valuable learning and growth she experienced early in her career to this unique experience.
