Faculty Senate requesting volunteers for Faculty Senate and presidential committees
May 2, 2012
Colleagues,
My term as Faculty Senate President will begin May 8, 2012. One of the first responsibilities of the incoming President and the newly constituted Executive Committee is the identification and nomination of faculty members and unclassified professionals to serve on university committees. Because these committees are an essential element of the University’s shared governance initiative, I strongly encourage you to consider serving on one or more of them in the upcoming academic year.
The names of each committee along with the number of members needed are listed below. For Faculty Senate committees we will appoint the faculty members or unclassified professionals that are needed to complete each committee’s membership. For Presidential and Other University committees, we will recommend appointments, with the final selection being made by those who oversee the committees. The length of term for each committee can vary from 1-3 years. Should you need further information about one or more of these committees, please contact the current chair of the committee. Their names are listed in the Committee Handbook, which can be found on the Office of Academic Personnel website: http://www.k-state.edu/academicpersonnel/univcomm/index.html
Here is a link to a questionnaire for your use: http://www.k-state.edu/facsen/current/. Please take a few moments to fill it out and return it to Candace LaBerge, candaceb@ksu.edu if you have interest in serving on one or more of the following committees. This is of great assistance to us as we make committee appointments and recommendations.
I would appreciate hearing from you by Friday, May 11. Thank you in advance for your consideration of this opportunity. I look forward to working with you during the coming academic year.
Cordially,
Jim Bloodgood,

As you see listed in the Faculty Senate committee needs, the General Grievance Chair's term is ending and a new chair will need to be appointed. The current chair is F. Todd Goodson in the College of Education. Here is a little information from the University Handbook, Appendix G, regarding the chair's role:
