Traditional Relay Service training offered morning of Sept. 15
Submitted by Learning and Development
Kansas Relay is a 24/7 service that allows individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind, or have difficulty speaking to communicate freely with friends, family and businesses. Every day thousands of individuals benefit from the services offered through Kansas Relay. K-State employees can attend a training session from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Sept. 15 in 127 Leadership Studies Building. The second session originally scheduled for the afternoon has been canceled.
Cady Macfee, Kansas outreach coordinator, will present the session on the different types of services provided by Kansas Relay. Macfee, who is hard of hearing, has benefited from several different types of relay services. She also will share how individuals can get a specialized telephone through the Kansas Telecommunications Access Program. In the session, participants will learn:
- The Kansas Relay Service not only benefits individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing, but benefits everyone.
- How to make and receive a relay call.
- The different types of calls, as well as some tips on how to handle a relay call.
There is no charge to participants, but registration is necessary to ensure adequate seating and materials. Participants may register through HRIS Self_Enrollment or by sending an email to Samantha Roberts at learning-develop-hr@k-state.edu. When sending an email, please include your name, department, employee ID number, course title, and the course number, WTD210. Supervisors also may send an email to register student employees.
