Dirk Mateer to present to Economics Club on economic foundations
Dirk Mateer, author of "Economics in the Movies" and co-author of "The Economics of the Office," will present a discussion, "The Five Foundations of Economics," at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, in Town Hall of the Leadership Studies Building.
This event is designed to introduce a general audience to general economic concepts in an engaging and entertaining way. This promises to be an interactive and entertaining event and the public is invited.
Mateer is currently an instructor at the University of California, San Diego, who has won numerous universitywide and national teaching awards. In 2010, he was named faculty member of the year at Penn State University and in 2015 he was named the Undergraduate Large Class Faculty member of the year at the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. Mateer's engaging style and use of many different media platforms has made him a popular speaker in the classroom and at economics teaching conferences.
A short Economics Club meeting will precede Mateer's talk and a reception will follow this event.
