National Academic Advising Association to host webinar Thursday

Submitted by Michael L. Lynch

The next National Academic Advising Association webinar for the fall semester, Steps in Developing an Assessment Plan for Academic Advising, will be at 1 p.m., Thursday. The webinar will be in the Konza Room at the K-State Student Union.

Academic advising is integral to the success, retention and persistence of our students in colleges and universities. In order for institutions to determine the success of the academic advising experiences of students, it is essential to have in place an assessment of academic advising. In addition, assessment of academic advising is key to many accreditation efforts by regional accreditation agencies and content based accreditation efforts.

The presenters will outline for participants the steps in developing an assessment plan for academic advising as well as provide examples of programs that have been implemented on college campuses.

The presenters will be Charlie Nutt, National Academic Advising Association executive director, Kansas State University; Rich Robbins, associate dean of arts and sciences, Bucknell University; Sharon Aiken-Wisniewski, assistant vice president for academic affairs/undergraduate studies, University of Utah; and Karen Boston, assistant dean for undergraduate programs, Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas-Fayetteville.
