CARE to host train the trainer session in bystander intervention
The Center for Advocacy, Response and Education, or CARE, will host a train the trainer session for its Bringing in the Bystander program from 2-4:30 p.m. Jan. 11 in 123 Leadership Studies Building.
The CARE team is excited to bring this program to the staff and faculty of K-State and believe that it is our responsibility to create an environment of safety on campus.
Bringing in the Bystander is an evidence-based prevention program with the goal of increasing bystander awareness of sexual and interpersonal violence on college campuses. The program aims to create a sense of shared responsibility throughout K-State that will help prevent violence and also give students, faculty and staff the power to intervene in those instances. It also aims to foster empathy and increase awareness of the problems that survivors of sexual and interpersonal violence face. Bringing in the Bystander shows survivors of violence that help is always available to them. By training the trainer, staff and faculty will be able to bring the knowledge that they learn to their students and show that sexual and interpersonal violence is preventable.
