Jazz in June
Some familiar songs will be heard coming from Hale Library at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 15, for the annual Jazz in June concert. The K-State Faculty Jazz Ensemble, featuring Kurt Gartner, Wayne Goins, Paul Hunt, Tod Kerstetter, Gordon Lewis and William Wingfield, will be presenting a program titled "Songs I Heard When I was Young."
The concert, presented by the Friends of the K-State Libraries, will be in Hale Library's Hemisphere Room. Tickets are available for $25 and include wine, beer, sparkling cider and snacks served alongside delicious jazz. Seating is limited to 100, and reservations are due by June 12.
Potential pieces on the program include the "Flinstones" theme, "Dreamsville" from Peter Gunn, "If I Only Had A Brain" from the "Wizard of Oz," and "Sweet Georgia Brown".
"Jazz in June is a really fun evening," said Darchelle Martin, events and programs coordinator for K-State Libraries. "The atmosphere is lively and casual with cafe-style seating, and food and drink are served during the concert itself. It's something a little different to do on a Friday night in Manhattan."
Additional sponsors for the concert include Burnett Automotive, Dr. William Durkee, Joleen Hill, Jerry Pettle and Katie Philp, Steve Shields, Bill and Sharon Snyder, and Billie Woodward. They, along with K-State Libraries and the Friends, encourage you to make reservations today for this entertaining concert!
