First Black Faculty and Staff Alliance Book Club meetings Feb. 12 and Feb. 20
Join the Black Faculty and Staff Alliance Book Club as it explores "Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America" by Ibram Kendi.
The first two book club meetings will be from 4-6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, and a condensed version from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20. Both meetings will be in 301 Calvin Hall.
The group will begin with the prologue and chapter one. Interested participants can order the book online or download the audiobook from the Manhattan Public Library through Hoopla or through K-State Libraries.
"To answer the question what's next after the universitywide KSUnite kickoff, the Black Faculty and Staff Alliance is answering that call by hosting a thought-provoking and reflective dialogue around the history of racist ideas," said Kimathi Choma, assistant dean for diversity, recruitment and retention for the College of Arts and Sciences and chair of the Black Faculty and Staff Alliance. "This book has truly opened my eyes and mind to how complex and deep these ideas have permeated our entire society."
