Campus preview of 2018 K-State Book Network selection 'The Hate U Give'
Interested in learning more about the 2018 KSBN selection, "The Hate U Give" by Angie Thomas? Join the K-State Book Network from 11-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, in the K-State Student Union courtyard.
As announced last week, Thomas's "The Hate U Give" will be the university common book for 2018. To get ready for conversations ahead, stop by the KSBN display to learn more about Thomas's best-selling and award-winning novel.
During Tuesday's preview, members of the campus community can enter a free drawing for a copy of "The Hate U Give." Students are also eligible to enter a free drawing for a $100 scholarship for spring 2018, sponsored by the English department.
The 2018 selection emerged as the favorite following campuswide conversations and review by the KSBN selection committee, comprised of 48 faculty, students, and staff from colleges and units across the university's campuses.
Other opportunities to learn about the 2018 selection include the information session for faculty, staff, graduate teaching assistants and student leaders from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 5, in Room 227 of the Union.
At the session on April 5, members of KSBN will share resources for Thomas's book on issues such as education, family, intersectionality, community building, civil discourse and popular culture. Participants are welcome stop by at any time during the event to discuss how Thomas's book can be part of coursework and event programming. To receive a copy of "The Hate U Give" at the information session, RSVP by April 3 at the KSBN website.
