Summer Advising Institute registration open

Submitted by Steven Dandaneau

Please register online to participate in the sixth annual K-State/NACADA Summer Undergraduate Academic Advising Institute, May 17-18, in the College of Business Administration Building.

This year's institute features talks by three new K-State leaders: Bryan Samuel, chief diversity and inclusion officer; Adrian Rodriquez, associate vice president for student life; and Gary Pratt, chief information officer.

We also will hear from Charlie Nutt, executive director of NACADA, and from Stephanie Bannister and Brian Niehoff on first-generation student success, Robert Gamez on student financial aid, Jordan Thomas and Lacy Pitts on Student Governing Association efforts, and host of advising professionals on such topics as: transfer students — Dean Core, Jennifer Pfortmiller, Beth Stuewe; SSC for Experienced Advisors — Kelly Briggs and Sarah Howe; New Advisor On-boarding and Professional Development — Becca Dale, Ashley Blake, Kiley Johansen; Advising Military-Affiliated Students — Dominc Barnes and Kody Carlson; Progress Report Pilot — Brad Cunningham; and Summer School — Jo Maseberg-Tomlinson. Many more will participate by presenting research posters, staffing informational tables, and joining aforementioned breakout session organizers in developing content for the Institute.

NACADA has promised a gift for each of this year's participants! (No, not just that Charlie Nutt is speaking; something in addition to that!)
