Conquest 2018 magazine showcasing K-State cancer research
The Johnson Cancer Research Center's 2018 Conquest magazine contains layperson-friendly stories showcasing Rob DeLong's work in anatomy and physiology and Nanotechnology Innovation Center to perfect the use of nanoparticles to destroy cancer cells and activate the host defense system, Santosh Aryal's efforts chemistry to make anti-cancer drugs last longer so the host has more time to fight back, Zhilong Yang‘s, biology, use of an anti-smallpox virus to fight cancer, and the Mary L. Vanier Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Lab run by Om Prakash and team in biochemistry.
Also featured are two undergraduate student researchers – Vaithish Velazhahan, senior in microbiology, medical biochemistry and pre-medicine, and Kathlyn Gomendoza, senior in biology – and one of Manhattan's most revered citizens and the first dean of the College of Business Administration, C. Clyde Jones. Highlights from the 8th Annual Pink Power Luncheon for breast cancer awareness, which featured prominent cancer research advocate Peggy Johnson, also are included.
