The National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri, will present "Voices on the Western Front," a musical production by Grammy and Emmy winner and K-State assistant professor of music Bryan Pinkall at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 28.
The concert portrays the story of three men's lives during World War I: English composer George Butterworth, Olympic gold medalist Frederick Kelly and French composer Alberic Magnard through video, stories and live music. It also will feature the world premiere of two songs by Patrick Dittamo, K-State graduate student in composition and former U.S. Army captain.
The production is presented in partnership with K-State's School of Music, Theatre, and Dance.
Admission is free with an RSVP.
At 8 p.m. Friday, June 29, Pinkall also will present an encore immersive concert featuring the stories, images and music of victims of World War II at St. John's United Methodist Church in Kansas City. The concert will include the world premiere of songs written to the poetry of Tsutomu Yamaguchi, the only survivor of both atomic bomb blasts. Admission is free.
