K-State choral faculty member to present at national conference in Kansas City
David Wood, instructor of music, has been selected to co-present a session titled "Rediscovering Early Music" at the 60th biennial National Conference of the American Choral Directors Association in Kansas City, Missouri, on Saturday, March 3, 2019.
The session will focus on music of the Renaissance as a means of teaching musicianship and musicality. Wood will present alongside directors and staff of the acclaimed choral ensemble Seraphic Fire and Early Music America, the Northern American service organization for early music.
Wood is the director of K-State's Collegium Musicum, a historical performance ensemble in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, which focuses on vocal and instrumental music of the Middle Ages through the 18th century. The ensemble includes university students, faculty and staff, and members of the Manhattan community. He also serves as marketing and special projects coordinator for Early Music America.
