Attention faculty: Disability support services update
K-State's disability support services will no longer provide the familiar disability support services envelope with the student's letter of accommodation. Instead, students needing accommodations will only provide faculty with the letter.
Disability support services has a new process to begin emailing students their letters of accommodation as an attachment. Students are encouraged to print it and hand-deliver it to each of their professors. Some students may choose to email it. They are still expected to communicate with faculty directly regarding accommodations, including test-taking accommodations.
On another note, please consider updating your syllabus to include the current statement regarding students with disabilities from the provost's Web page:
"Any student with a disability who needs a classroom accommodation, access to technology or other academic assistance in this course should contact disability support services (dss@k-state.edu) and/or the instructor. Students who require assistance during an emergency evacuation should discuss their needs with their instructors and DSS. DSS serves students with a wide range of disabilities including, but not limited to, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, depression, and anxiety."
On behalf of the staff in disability support services, thank you for helping make K-State an accessible environment for all.
