University-created initiative in final three at awards contest
Submitted by Communications and Marketing
The Kansas Opportunity Innovation Network, or KOIN, has been selected as one of three finalists in a national academic awards competition.
The innovation network is competing in the leadership and collaboration category of the University Economic Development Association's 2012 Awards of Excellence competition. The category recognizes novel efforts by universities to support economic development in communities.
KOIN is a co-innovation project between K-State's Advanced Manufacturing Institute and the U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development Administration. The initiative helps rural and distressed Kansas companies and communities innovate and compete in the marketplace.
Bradley Kramer, director of the Advanced Manufacturing Institute, will give a short presentation about KOIN at the University Economic Development Association's annual summit Oct. 21-24. Winners will be announced following the summit.
