Sports & Entertainment Marketing Speaker Series features Kansas City Chiefs, music industry veteran
Submitted by Brent Fritzemeier
The College of Business Administration's Sports and Entertainment Marketing Speaker Series will feature two opportunities for students to learn firsthand from industry professionals.
On Wednesday, Oct. 24, K-State alumna Krista Darting, formerly of the Nashville Songwriters Association International and current K-State Alumni Association director of membership and marketing, will speak about the music industry as a whole, the songwriting profession and songwriter rights. The lecture will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the College of Business Building Lecture Hall.
Then on Thursday, Oct. 25, the series will feature a pair of marketing executives from the Kansas City Chiefs. K-State alumnus Kellen Begnoche, along with colleague Anthony Matthies, will speak at 11:30 a.m. in the College of Business Building Lecture Hall. Begnoche is the team's director of service and activation and Matthies is the director of suite sales.
The College of Business Administration welcomes all students, faculty, staff and members of the public to attend the speaker series events — no ticket is required. All speaker series events are registered for students in the K-State 360 program for GPS check-in.
The Sports and Entertainment Marketing Speaker Series is organized by marketing professors Doug Walker and Janis Crow as part of the curriculum for their MKTG630: Sports Marketing and MKTG625: Entertainment classes. These are two of the three core courses in the 15-hour business of sports and entertainment certificate program.
